The Development Coordinator (DC) plays a key role in supporting the fundraising and development efforts of Grow Dat. The DC will be responsible for various tasks related to data tracking, individual donor retention and cultivation, event planning, and communications. The DC will work closely with the Development and Communications Manager (DCM) and other Grow Dat team members to ensure Grow Dat meets our annual fundraising goals and effectively communicates our mission to stakeholders.
The Development Coordinator will be managed by the Development and Communications Manager and work on a team with the Co-Executive Director (External)
Areas of Responsibility:
- Data Tracking
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date confidential donor profiles in Grow Dat's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which is currently Bloomerang
- Process donations, generate acknowledgment letters and tax receipts
- Generate donor reports that reflect giving timeline, number of donations, and last donation date prior to giving campaigns
- Export data from excel spreadsheets and QGiv platform into Bloomerang data base
- Support the processes and systems to ensure the efficient execution of fundraising activities as connected to data and tracking.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy of all donations
- Attend virtual classes via Bloomerang to be knowledgeable of platform tools
- Donor Cultivation and Stewardship/Giving Campaigns
- Support the cultivation and stewardship of individual donors through personalized communication and acknowledgments.
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement a strong donor retention strategy.
- Assist in the identification of gift prospects.
- Collaborate with the team on strategies to improve donor retention and increase monthly donors
- Assist in developing strategies for Grow Dat’s annual giving campaigns - Growing the Green campaign (end-of-year appeal) and GiveNOLA Day (early May)
- Communications
- Monitor and analyze metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication across channels, including social media, newsletters, targeted emails, and more.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the organization's mission and fundraising initiatives, which could include contributing to writing press releases, youth participant stories, and other written communications.
- Support the creation of marketing materials; such as event/workshop flyers, annual/impact reports, organization website, newsletter and donor appeals.
- Monitor the “Info@” email address to streamline inquiries and ensure they reach the appropriate individuals for processing.
- Event Planning & Site Rentals
- Support DCM and assist with logistics for the Annual farm dinner and Farm For All, which could include event themes, run of show, silent auction, in-kind donations, and creation of reservation/attendance platform through QGive.
- Assist in the creation of event materials, such as invitations, flyers, signage, and other printed and digital materials.
- Track event income and expenses to ensure fidelity to budget.
- Assist DCM with post-event follow-up activities, including documentation, acknowledgments, and evaluation.
- Monitor and track private event inquiries and site rentals; initial and main point of contact for all events; delegate tasks as needed if a staff person becomes the person on-site during the event.
- Organizational
- Commit to working across differences to resolve conflicts when necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and team meetings;
- Participate in Real Talk with team(s) as planned with all staff.
- Participate in VISIONS training, which is the diversity, equity, and inclusion framework we use at Grow Dat.
- Qualifications:
- Proven experience in donor cultivation, event planning, communications, and/or fundraising in a nonprofit setting.
- Proficient in Google suite and various social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook).
- Familiarity with (or a desire to learn) donor management software and databases, such as Bloomerang and Qgiv.
- Familiarity with (or a desire to learn) communications platforms and website builders, such as Mailchimp and Squarespace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines accordingly.
- Knowledge of fundraising practices and trends.
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried position. The annual salary range (based on this ten month contract) will be between $44,540 and $51,380. Grow Dat has a commitment to pay equity, which means that all employees’ compensation starts at a base rate according to our compensation policy, with adjustments made for job responsibilities and lived experience utilizing a compensation worksheet a new hire fills out. This process does not invite room for negotiation.
