We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Associate to support our fundraising, communications, and community engagement efforts. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about nonprofit work that makes a real impact.
About the Role
As the Development Associate, you will work closely with the Director of Development to support donor stewardship, fundraising initiatives, communications, and special events. Your work will help build community awareness and secure the resources Magnolia needs to continue providing high-quality services and supports to the individuals we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Stewardship & Database Management
- Process and acknowledge all gifts in a timely and meaningful manner
- Maintain and manage the donor database, including gift entry, reporting, and data cleanup
- Create and improve workflows to increase efficiency and support fundraising goals
- Assist with donor cultivation, prospect tracking, and fundraising strategy development
Fundraising & Development Support
- Support the Director of Development in meeting annual fundraising goals
- Assist with grant development, special events, education, outreach, and other initiatives
- Help plan and execute fundraising strategies and campaigns
Communications & Digital Engagement
- Assist with creating engaging content for social media, email campaigns, and newsletters
- Manage and maintain the email database
- Support digital communications that increase awareness and engagement
Community Engagement & Events
- Represent Magnolia at community events and outreach opportunities
- Assist with planning, logistics, volunteer coordination, and execution of fundraising and community events
General Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with staff, donors, and community partners
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Uphold Magnolia’s mission, vision, and values
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or five years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or sales (5+ years preferred)
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
- Experience with DonorPerfect or similar CRM software preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills
Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license and current automotive insurance required
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements
- Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and off-site events
- Commitment to Magnolia’s mission and serving individuals with developmental disabilities
Position Details
- Status: Full-Time, Exempt
- Schedule: Monday–Friday business hours with evenings/weekends as needed
- Location: Main Campus and other locations as required
